Drawing and Embroidery

Description

This work was created to participate in an exhibition planned for residents by the ward office. The exhibition is funded by taxes paid by the people. However, in principle, professional artists do not participate, even though they pay taxes. This may be considered normal, but it could be seen as somewhat irresponsible when considering one’s role as a member of society and also as an artist.

Participating in the exhibition means she is exercising her rights as a resident and, furthermore, contributing to society as an artist. The work was crafted with care to avoid being overly technical. The image shows her frequently taken walking route.
It’s not her magnum opus, but it’s a subject and technique she has been eager to explore for a while. She finally had the chance to exhibit it in a show attended by people from the same area as the park. There were many works in the exhibition that focused on the same park, mostly landscapes, this unique embroidery stood out in its own way.
